Wow we all grew up and became like our parents in the end.....

So it seems we all grow up and put a suit on in the end, well DJs do it seems as it is announced today that Judge Jules is to give up playing on Radio 1 and become a lawyer...  Maybe a sign of the uncertain economic slow down and booking falling and wages dropping that DJs may opt for more secure jobs with a salary and pension, or maybe the 9-5 hours is what appeals.... Certainly leaves room for a whole crop of new innovative artists that can give dance music (if that is what Radio 1 replaces Jules and others with) a boost....

The story:

DJ Judge Jules is to step down from his Radio 1 show after 14 years - to become a lawyer.

His departure comes along with another station veteran Gilles Peterson in a schedule revamp which sees new specialist DJs Skream & Benga, Toddla T, Charlie Sloth and Friction joining.

Jules - whose real name is Julius O'Riordan - has also been a hugely successful club DJ.

However, the 45-year-old said he will continue to man the decks even with his career change. Jules got a degree in law after studying at the London School of Economics.

He said: "I've had an incredible time over the last 14 years at Radio 1. I'm going to continue DJ-ing and I'm having a bit of a career change - I'm off to become an entertainment lawyer at Sheridans."

Peterson leaves the station after 13 years. The presenter and record label boss is in talks for a possible show on BBC 6 Music.

Peterson said: "I've had an amazing 13 years at Radio 1 - to be able to get away with the radical music that I've pushed out has always surprised me and I thank Radio 1 for giving me the freedom to do that."

Also leaving the station when the new presenters join in April are Kissy Sell Out and Fabio & Grooverider.

Radio 1 controller Ben Cooper, said: "It's important that Radio 1 continues to develop new talent and the station keeps evolving for our young listeners. These changes to our evening schedule will strengthen the range and depth of the specialist music offering on the network."
He wished the outgoing presenters "the very best for the future".

In addition to the new five regular presenters, Cooper is creating a new show, BBC Radio 1 Residency, which will be presented by a roster of DJs including Heidi, Chuckie and Kutski.
